Java Environment Set up(Windows ver.) Installation of Eclipse

* If you are setting Android development environment, you don’t need this installation.

At last of Java development environment setting, you need to install Eclipse which is a IDE (Integrated Development Environment) software.

If you skip installation of IDE like Eclipse, you have to use command prompt to compile or execute a Java program by executing compile command or execute command.
Without Ecliplse, it is very inefficient to develop a system. So, usually, IDE is necessary for system development.

Famous IDE is as below;
Eclipse, JBuilder, NetBeans, IntelliJ
Eclipse and IntelliJ are very popular and they can be downloaded without any charge.

Installation of Eclipse

You can download eclipse from the following site.

Click ‘Download Packages’ on the following screen and open a screen to select a package.
* ‘Eclipse Oxygen(4.7) is the latest version at the following image.

From here, installation will be based on Eclipse Oxygen(4.7).
In case of different version of this version, some parts of installation screen image will be different.

By clicking ‘Download’ button, the following screen will show and you can download ‘Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers’.
Please confirm your Windows OS whether your Windows is 32 bit or 64 bit when you download it.

After you download, unzip the downloaded zip file.

You can choose any directory for unzip data, but this time, we will unzip it under C drive.

Confirm whether unzip is completed correctly or not.

The installation is done.

Now, let’s check running the Eclipse.

After you unzip and open ‘eclipse’ folder, you can find ‘eclipse.exe’. Doule-click the exe file.

It is better to make a short-cut icon of the eclipse exe on your desktop.

To make a short-cut icon, right-click on the exe file ‘eclipse.exe’ and select ‘Create a short-cut’ and move the created short-cut icon to your desktop.

To run a eclipse, it will take for a while. The following screen will show until eclipse complete to run.

After running, ‘Workspace launcher’ window will show and you need to choose the workspage folder.

Workspace is a folder to store all application data like source code files and setting files.

You can choose a default workspace without any change on the window.
After you choose the workspace folder, click ‘Launch’ button.

Eclipse will run.
